Carey BYOD

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

New for 2018
From 2018 the College will commence with the issue of a Chromebook to all Year 7 students. Each
student issued will be charged an annual ‘Technology Levy’ of $180, which will cover the purchase price of the
device, licensing and preinstalled applications. The Chromebook will remain the property of the College for
three years, after which time the student may keep the device. It is envisaged that a similar policy will come
into place for these cohorts as they transition into Years 10-12.

Years 8-12 (2018)
For older students not yet issued with a Chromebook, the previous BYOD policy will remain in place, which
required students to supply their own Apple device of at least the size of a mini iPad. Year 8-12 students
may now also bring in their own Chromebook. The cost of replacement and responsibility for care and
management of the device lies with the student and their family. Parents are encouraged to consider home
insurance options.

You can buy directly an apple device with the Family Funded iPad and Mac Program from Apple.
